Key takeaways

  • Each Meesho category has its own template with Compulsory and Optional fields. A blank or wrong compulsory cell rejects the listing.
  • Dropdown cells only accept values from the template's Validation Sheet, spelled exactly the same.
  • Every size and every colour goes in its own row. Style ID stays the same across sizes; SKU ID is unique per row.
  • Group ID puts several rows into one catalog on the Meesho app.

Meesho's bulk upload template is an Excel file you download per category from the supplier panel. It lets you list many products in one go, but it is strict: the instructions sheet warns that missing or incorrect values in a compulsory field lead to rejection of the listing. Here is what is inside the file and how to fill each part.

What is inside the template

  • Instructions: how to fill the sheet and what each field means.
  • The fill sheet (for example "Candles-Fill this"): one row per product.
  • Example Sheet: a filled example.
  • Validation Sheet: the allowed values for every dropdown column.
  • Return Reasons: which return reasons apply to each of the two prices.

Compulsory vs. optional fields

The top row marks every column as a Compulsory Field or an Optional Field. Compulsory fields are needed to create your product. Optional (recommended) fields help buyers decide and help them find your listing, so fill them when you can. The first two columns, Error Status and Error Message, are for Meesho only. Leave them empty.

The fields, group by group

Product name and description

Enter a clear product name. The template asks you not to add features such as weight, dimensions or price in the name. The description can be a few lines describing the product. Restricted keywords, such as other portal names, smoking or violent slogans, must not be used anywhere. See the Meesho image guidelines checklist for the rules on photos.

Prices and stock

Meesho Price, Wrong/Defective Returns Price and MRP are compulsory, in INR. The returns price must be lower than the Meesho Price, and both must be lower than MRP. Inventory is the number of items you have in stock. Our guide to Meesho Price, MRP and returns price explains how the two prices work.

Weight, size and quantity

  • Net Weight (gms): weight of the product without packaging, in grams.
  • Net Quantity (N): number of units. A pack of 4 is 4.
  • Product Length, Breadth and Height: for round products, length is the diameter.
  • Product Unit: the unit you measured in, such as cm or inch.

Attributes from dropdowns

Columns like Color, Material, Type, Generic Name, Weight and Weight Unit only accept values from the Validation Sheet. In the Candles template, for example, Type must be one of Birthday Candles, Floating Candles, Home Decor Candles, Pillar Candles, Scented Candles, Taper Candles or Tea Light Candles. "scented candle" or "Scented candles" is not the same value.

Manufacturer, packer and importer

Name, address and pincode for the manufacturer and the packer come from the product label ("Manufactured by", "Packed by"). They are often the same business. Importer details are for imported products; when Country of Origin is India, the template's own formula fills them with "Not Required".

Images

Image 1 (Front) to Image 4 take image links. Create them with the image link option on the supplier panel; Google Drive links are not accepted. Image 1 must follow Meesho's primary image rules.

Variants: Style ID, SKU ID and Group ID

FieldWhat it isRule
Style IDCode for the product designSame for all sizes of a design; changes for each colour
SKU IDYour own ID for one variationUnique for every row; shown on orders, labels and invoices
Group IDCatalog groupingSame Group ID for rows that belong in one catalog on the app

Each size and each colour is a separate row. A red product in three sizes is three rows with one Style ID and three SKU IDs.

Before you upload

  1. Every compulsory cell is filled.
  2. Every dropdown cell uses a value from the Validation Sheet, exactly.
  3. Returns price < Meesho Price < MRP on every row.
  4. Image links open and are on the right rows.
  5. No spelling mistakes and no restricted keywords.
